Syria announced the commencement of restoration projects for museums and archaeological sites as part of a collaboration with Italy, with funding of five million euros for 2026. The projects include rehabilitating the Aleppo and Idlib museums, restoring the archaeological site of Ebla, upgrading laboratories at the National Museum in Damascus, and establishing a mosaic restoration lab at the Citadel of Damascus. Both parties confirmed the possibility of implementing additional projects in 2027, including restoring the Safita Tower and upgrading other museums, with the aim of protecting cultural heritage affected by the war.
