Syed Leads Senate Race

Preliminary results showed Democratic candidate Nabeela Syed leading Republican Darby Hills in the race for Illinois State Senate District 26, with 56.5% of the vote to Hills’s 43.5%, after about 17% of votes had been counted. The results were not sufficient to declare a final winner. The two campaigns had raised around $6.5 million combined, in a race described as one of the most expensive legislative contests in the state’s history.
