Jobar Ring Road Protest
Protests took place in Damascus’s Jobar neighborhood on Friday, November 7, 2026, during which residents blocked the Southern Ring Road, demanding that reconstruction of the neighborhood be accelerated and that steps be taken to enable them to return to their homes. They called for a clear timeline for the projects and clarification of what would happen to damaged properties, as well as guarantees of property owners’ rights and transparency about compensation and reconstruction procedures. They also called for residents to be involved in decisions concerning the neighborhood’s future.
