Syrian Combat Experience
A senior Saudi official told Reuters that Syrian partners could offer their combat expertise to help the Kingdom confront armed groups, amid reports that Syrian military advisers and training teams had arrived in Saudi Arabia as Houthi attacks continued. He said the exchange of expertise was primarily intended to restructure the Syrian forces, while joint security and defense exercises were also being conducted. A U.S. official confirmed that the advisers and trainers were present, warning that the move could draw Syria into a wider regional conflict.
