US efforts for Lebanon ceasefire falter

The United States is working on an initiative to de-escalate the situation between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, proposing that Hezbollah halt its attacks on Israel in exchange for Israel refraining from targeting sites in Beirut. Despite diplomatic efforts, the initiative has received mixed reactions from Lebanese officials. Israel appears to be inclined to expand its operations in Lebanon, including targets within Beirut. It is worth noting that tensions have escalated after Israel requested Washington to continue pressuring Hezbollah, as fighting persists and military violations occur on both sides.
