Germany issues record visas in 2025

Federal Statistical Office data in Germany showed that the country granted citizenship to an unprecedented total of 332,500 people last year, an increase of 14%. Syrians remained the largest group of new citizens for the fifth consecutive year, although their numbers decreased by 21% compared to 2024. These figures come after many Syrians who arrived in Germany seeking asylum in 2015 and 2016 became eligible for citizenship in 2024.
