Tracing Putin's family roots for a salary

A Russian university has announced a unique academic position dedicated to tracing the family tree of President Vladimir Putin and studying the history of his ancestors from 1861 to 1917, with a focus on the family’s transition from farming to small urban entrepreneurship. The project requires research into archival records, which may be limited due to the family’s background as peasants. It will continue until July 2027, with a monthly salary of approximately 852 British pounds. This initiative aims to understand Putin’s historical roots, describing his ancestors as coming from the most modest families, and noting that his father worked in the army before his family’s life changed during World War II.
