Khashem clashes and attacks in Deir ez-Zor
The eastern town of Khasham, near Deir ez-Zor, has witnessed a heightening of security tensions following armed clashes between two families, involving the use of medium weapons and RPGs. The clashes resulted in injuries and the burning of homes, causing panic among residents. The violence led to a deterioration of security conditions in the area, with residents unable to resolve the dispute. Reinforcements from the Ministry of Defense and Internal Security have arrived in the vicinity of the town. The phenomenon of tribal and familial conflicts recurs in regions such as Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, amid a decline in the role of judicial and security institutions in controlling such disputes.
