Hama bans belly dance classes in sports centers
The Directorate of Sports and Youth in Hama Province has prohibited the organization and promotion of belly dancing courses within sports centers and private homes, as they are considered to conflict with local laws and traditions. This decision comes after advertisements promoting these courses were observed from some establishments, and a reminder was issued to refrain from advertising them and to adhere to the permitted licenses, with a warning that legal measures, including closure, may be taken in case of violations. The decision sparked widespread debate on social media, with some viewing it as an interference in personal freedoms, while others supported it to preserve customs and traditions.
