French Analyst: Sweida Boosts Captagon Trade
French Expert Jean-Pierre Vellou Addressed the Consequences of Israeli Policies in Southern Syria French expert Jean-Pierre Vellou discussed the repercussions of Israeli policies in southern Syria, particularly in the Suwayda governorate, where the area has become a refuge for drug trafficking networks specializing in captagon. He explained that Israel aims to maintain Syria's weakening and division, which has contributed to the expansion of drug networks that take advantage of the state's frailty and lack of oversight. Significant quantities of drugs are being exported toward Gulf markets, especially Saudi Arabia, while Jordan has increased security measures along its borders to counter smuggling.
