Senior Assad-era security official detained
The counter-terrorism department in Syria managed to arrest Major General Qais Hosan Al-Abed Al-Rajab, deputy director of the General Intelligence Directorate under the previous regime. Al-Rajab was among the top officials accused of committing serious violations against residents in the Al-Hajar Al-Aswad neighborhood in Damascus, as well as in Daria and Moadamiyah in rural Damascus, in addition to villages and towns in Daraa Governorate. The operation came after continuous security monitoring of his movements and attempts to evade detection. Investigations are currently ongoing, and legal procedures are underway to refer him to the judiciary.
