Germany inaugurates fast-track asylum center at Berlin Airport
A new asylum processing center has begun operations at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport's border area, coinciding with the implementation of the new European asylum rules. The center aims to quickly handle asylum requests from air travelers through swift procedures to deport those who do not deserve protection. The system is limited to arrivals from countries with low acceptance rates, or those providing false information about their identity, or considered security threats. This currently excludes asylum seekers from Afghanistan. This step is part of the European asylum system reform to strengthen border control and expedite procedures.
