Meta unveils chipless thoughts-to-text tech
Meta announced the release of Brain2Qwerty V2, a system that converts brain activity into understandable words and phrases without the need to implant electronic chips into the brain. The technology uses a device based on Magnetoencephalography (MEG) imaging and considers it a safer alternative compared to traditional technologies that involve implanting electrodes. It aims to assist individuals with speech impairments caused by injuries or illnesses to regain their ability to communicate. The system has achieved accuracy rates of up to 78% in some cases and relies on artificial intelligence and language models to recognize the content of thoughts quickly and effectively.
