PlayStation to end disc support after 2028

Sony announced that it will cease producing physical game discs and will shift entirely to digital formats, releasing all new games as download codes via online stores or retailers, starting from January 2028. This change comes as a result of declining physical disc sales, with digital game sales reaching 85% of total sales in the last quarter of 2025, while disc sales dropped to 15%. This move raises concerns about users' ownership of games, especially given the potential for stores to shut down or digital versions to be deleted by companies.
