Atlas robot draws attention at 2026 World Cup
The Atlas robot, developed by Boston Dynamics, appeared during the Brazil versus Norway match at the 2026 World Cup, performing flashy moves and presenting the ball to the referee—moments that captured the audience's attention. Atlas is considered one of the most advanced humanoid robots, having been redesigned as a new electric platform that allows for more versatile tasks. It features 56 joints, arms that extend up to 2.3 meters, and the ability to lift loads of up to 50 kilograms. The robot utilizes machine learning techniques and simulation training to develop its motor skills. Currently, it is being tested for industrial tasks, with plans for mass production—a shift from entertainment demonstrations to vital production tools.
