The tensions between the United States and Iran are escalating, as Washington carried out airstrikes targeting Iranian facilities over six days, including bridges and the vital Chabahar Port, which handles 90% of the country's container traffic, along with the destruction of a control tower at Chabahar Port in an effort to cut supply routes. In terms of escalation, the Trump administration is considering expanding military operations to include strikes on nuclear facilities and infrastructure such as power plants, with dozens of aircraft being sent for refueling while air forces are being redeployed in the region. Iran responded with several attacks on facilities in the Gulf and Jordan, and Iranian drone and missile strikes caused damage in Kuwait; meanwhile, Iran is threatening to change its military strategy. The instability has led to a more than 4% increase in oil prices, due to the unrest in the Strait of Hormuz, which accounts for about 20% of the world's oil supplies.
