iPhone 18 Pro Max Introduces New Feature
Apple is working on a major upgrade for the camera of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, including the introduction of a variable aperture feature for the first time. This allows users to adjust the amount of light entering the lens according to shooting conditions, thereby improving image quality—especially in low light and when capturing with a shallow depth of field. Apple will be using the Sony IMX905 sensor instead of the previous one, while maintaining a pixel size of 1.22 micrometers. This indicates that the upgrade focuses on the variable aperture system rather than increasing pixel size. This enhancement is expected to raise the cost of the phone and possibly its price by around $200. The device is anticipated to be launched in September 2026 alongside the new A20 Pro processor, while other camera system components are not expected to change significantly.
