Apple tests AI for support calls

Apple has launched testing of a new AI-based system within its stores to record customer support conversations during Genius Bar sessions. The goal is to reduce documentation time and increase the accuracy of recording details. The system is called "Live Notes," and it converts spoken conversations into written text and generates a summary displayed on the employee's iPad, allowing for review and editing before saving. The system aims to enable staff to interact more effectively with customers rather than being occupied with note-taking. However, the technology has raised privacy concerns, worries about performance monitoring, and potential risks of misinterpretation or errors in summarization due to AI capabilities. Apple is still conducting tests in a limited number of stores and has not yet announced a rollout date or final policies, with ongoing questions about data handling and retention periods.
