Reports indicate that the Xbox Game Pass service offered by Microsoft harms studio games and diminishes their value, as some executives express dissatisfaction over games being offered for free or at low prices, which negatively impacts their sales. The service also lacks transparency in profit sharing and has led to a decline in industry profits, resulting in thousands of layoffs. Meanwhile, reports predict that millions of subscribers have been lost since its launch. It is likely that Microsoft will change its policy or abandon Game Pass in the future due to its worsening financial performance and the company's new direction.
