Samsung tests Sony sensor on Galaxy S27
Samsung plans to test the use of a 50-megapixel main camera sensor from Sony in its flagship Galaxy S27 smartphones, instead of relying on its own ISOCELL sensors. If the sensor is finally approved, it could represent a major shift in the company's photography strategy, as Samsung has been a leading user of ISOCELL sensors, while Sony's sensors are known for offering a wider dynamic range, higher color accuracy, and better performance in low-light conditions. This new technology is expected to improve the quality of photos and videos, especially in difficult lighting situations, by enhancing detail, reducing noise, and speeding up autofocus. Information indicates that the base and Plus editions might receive camera upgrades, with some camera capabilities remaining on higher-end versions. The new technology could enable Samsung to compete strongly with companies like Apple and Google, with a rollout expected to begin in early 2027.
