Facebook provides free verification badges

Facebook has launched a free account verification program aimed at distinguishing genuine accounts from fake ones, including accounts operated by individuals or driven by artificial intelligence models. To obtain the new gray badge, users are required to submit a short video verifying their identity. The algorithm compares the video with previous photos to confirm the user's identity, ensuring they are a real human. To be eligible, users must be over 18 years old and have an account free of sanctions; the program is limited to personal accounts. The badge appears next to the user’s name across all Facebook services. This initiative comes as part of efforts to address AI-generated content, amid criticisms related to privacy and users' rights.
