Kaspersky has revealed an espionage campaign targeting institutions in the Middle East and Africa. The campaign used sophisticated malware such as NightLedger, linked to the Mirage Kitten group, with the goal of infiltrating networks and maintaining long-term access to collect sensitive data. The operation involved phishing messages and fake job offers, along with covert tools like communication tunnels (ArcBridge and BridgeHead) to enhance concealment and bypass security systems, making malicious activity difficult to detect. The targeted sectors ranged from aviation and telecommunications to finance. These tools first appeared in April 2026. Kaspersky advises organizations to update security solutions, consider managed security services, and increase awareness of the group's threat tactics to improve unseen protection against ongoing attacks.
