Samsung plans to cut display costs for Galaxy S27 and S28 Ultra
The article discusses Samsung's plan to reduce production costs for its flagship phone screens, starting with the Galaxy S27 series and potentially extending to the Galaxy S28 Ultra. The company aims to adopt a "dual sourcing" strategy by purchasing the Display Driver IC components from external suppliers alongside their internal sources, in order to cut costs and increase supply chain flexibility. This change does not impact screen quality, as Samsung enforces strict standards to maintain consistent performance. The strategy aims to reduce risks and enhance bargaining power, especially amid rising prices of essential components. The plan is still under study and may be gradually implemented on certain models without affecting the user experience.
