Yemen Houthis escalate violence resulting in dozens dead

Yemen has witnessed a widespread military escalation carried out by the Houthis, who targeted military sites in Marib and Hadramout provinces using drones and ballistic missiles. These attacks resulted in the deaths of more than 60 government forces, injuries among civilians, and damage to infrastructure. In response, Yemeni forces carried out a military operation along the front lines, with clashes intensifying in areas north of al-Khwekh and around Marib city. The UN envoy warned that these attacks could lead to a broader escalation, while the United Nations condemned the attacks on Saudi Arabia and commercial ships, calling on both sides to exercise restraint and to engage in UN-led negotiations to de-escalate the situation.
