iPhone 18 Pro May Launch Limited
Apple faces a potential challenge in launching the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series due to a shortage of DRAM memory supplies, which may impact device availability at launch in September 2026. The issue is not related to manufacturing the A20 Pro chip, which is produced with a 2-nanometer process according to TSMC's N2 node, but rather to the availability of the necessary memory chips needed to integrate with the final components. It is expected that the number of devices available will be limited, with the likelihood of increased user demand, especially with the launch of the first Pro models and a foldable phone, putting additional pressure on production lines. Apple is seeking to secure multiple sources, including companies like Micron and SK Hynix, and is considering reliance on Chinese suppliers. However, any delays could lead to longer waiting periods and reduced availability in markets, with the possibility that the company might focus solely on launching Pro models with limited availability of the standard version in the future.
