The article discusses the risks associated with Meta's smart glasses equipped with cameras, particularly concerning the privacy of individuals being photographed without their knowledge. It explains that copyright systems on platforms are not an effective solution for preventing the posting of rapid clips, as detecting copyrighted music does not guarantee the complete removal of the video; the sound may be muted or allowed to remain, and these issues occur after filming, not before. The article also highlights that Meta's glasses, which feature high-quality cameras and hands-free shooting capabilities, are marketed as discreet recording tools. Despite design considerations aimed at privacy protection—such as an indicator light that activates when the camera is in use—the indicator does not guarantee that people in front of the wearer are aware they are being filmed. This raises privacy concerns and underscores the challenges of regulating the use of modern technology and legislation to safeguard personal rights.
