WhatsApp has launched a new feature called "Parental Controls" on iPhone devices to help parents manage and monitor their minor and teenage children's accounts. This section allows linking the parent's account to their child's account by scanning a QR code and entering the child's date of birth, which activates control tools that enable monitoring of allowed contacts, managing group join requests, and setting privacy options. Restrictions are automatically lifted when the user turns 18, granting full access to all features. Additionally, a testing phase is underway for a backup storage feature on Meta's servers instead of iCloud, with certain restrictions on some managed account features to ensure children's privacy is protected, all while not viewing the content of encrypted conversations.
