The article discusses the evolution of AI assistants to become more personalized by building a continuous memory of users, allowing them to remember individual preferences and behaviors over time. As a result, the system can connect previous conversations and draw conclusions about a person's health status, political inclinations, or financial circumstances based on implicit data. This approach raises ethical and legal concerns related to privacy, as inaccurate or sensitive inferences could be used to manipulate user decisions, such as in hiring or insurance processes. Experts warn that exploiting these capabilities might threaten individuals' rights to control their personal identity, calling for greater protection of people's rights to know, review, and challenge the inferences made about them, to prevent data from becoming a tool that companies exploit.
