Microsoft launched the OneDrive Photos app unexpectedly on Windows 11 devices, resulting in its automatic widespread installation. This included both regular users' devices and enterprise systems running Windows 11 Enterprise editions. The app, which is still in the beta stage, aims to make browsing and organizing photos easier by providing a unified experience between the device and the cloud-based OneDrive account, using a desktop interface built on WebView2 technology. Currently, the company faces a problem: there is no independent way to remove the app from devices. Users are forced to delete the entire OneDrive application to remove it, which can affect file synchronization and poses difficulties for users who want to uninstall the app without losing other services. The company is planning to add future control tools that will allow for independent removal and is working on solutions to prevent the app from appearing on devices in organizations that do not need it. They continue to work on fixing the issue of its unintended installation and ensuring that the app is not designed to function on organizational devices.
