Apple May Delay Foldable iPhone Launch
Apple is facing production challenges that are impacting its plans to launch its highly anticipated foldable phone, tentatively named the iPhone Ultra. The company is scheduled to reveal the device at the September 2026 event, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The initial release is expected to be limited to primary markets such as the United States and China, with a potential delay in launching in other regions. The main reason for the delay stems from issues with the hinge mechanism and the foldable display, which encountered difficulties during quality checks by Apple’s suppliers. Manufacturing plans are still being adjusted, and mass production, originally scheduled for June, has faced multiple postponements, possibly extending the delay by an additional two months. The phone is anticipated to have a significantly higher price than traditional iPhone models, with rumors suggesting that the Australian price could reach around AUD 3,699 (approximately USD 2,613), making it one of the most expensive foldable phones on the market. Apple might announce the device in September without confirming the official price or availability, while aiming to expand production later and offer the device more broadly once manufacturing capabilities have been improved.
