The article discusses Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz's plan to transfer law enforcement authority from the Israeli military to the Israeli police in the West Bank, amid escalating settler violence in the village of Kustra. The move reflects Israel's desire to address criminal activities committed by Israelis in the area, especially as settlements expand and reports emerge of deteriorating law enforcement—where settlers are often released without being charged. This step is seen as a move toward annexing the West Bank, although the government has not officially announced such intentions. It raises concerns about the potential escalation of legal and military issues in the region. Additionally, the village of Kustra has experienced a blockade resembling a massacre by settlers, with military confrontations and damage to homes, leading to the deployment of Israeli reinforcements. The Palestinian residents remain besieged in their homes, suffering from shortages of water and electricity, amid fears that violence in the area could intensify.
