The article concerns the ongoing Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon, where Israel carried out strikes, bombing homes and southern towns, resulting in the death of 9 people and injuring 11 others. The targets were claimed by Israel to be military sites belonging to Hezbollah, while Lebanon asserted that the victims were not military targets. Lebanese Prime Minister Naufal Salameh responded to the escalation, clarifying that the children and women killed were not military targets, and emphasized that such actions threaten efforts to maintain stability and undermine attempts to establish peace in the region. Simultaneously, American-Lebanese negotiations are ongoing to de-escalate the situation, accompanied by warnings that Israel’s persistent military presence contradicts Lebanese commitments, with Lebanon emphasizing the need for Israel to withdraw from occupied territories to ensure the security of the southern population.
