Google has announced the availability of an option to remove the visible watermark that its models typically place by default on AI-generated visual content, such as images, videos, and sounds. This feature will be introduced through a new update to the "Gemini" tool. The update includes the ability to remove the watermark directly within the "Gemini" app or the "Flow" video editor, aiming to strike a balance between creative control and security. It is important to note that this decision does not include hidden marks embedded by the models or metadata within the files, and it excludes countries like China, the European Union, South Korea, and India, which require prominent watermarks. This move comes amid criticism regarding the effectiveness of watermarks and how easily they can be removed, and coincides with the launch of Google's new AI models.
