Samsung Galaxy S22 gets Android 17 update
Samsung Galaxy S22 series phones are now eligible for official support from the LineageOS project, which allows the installation of a custom operating system based on Android. This gives them the opportunity to be updated to Android 16 currently, with the possibility of upgrading to Android 17 in the future. Although Samsung has ceased providing major updates for the series, support from LineageOS offers users an option to continue receiving newer Android versions through custom ROMs, potentially extending the lifespan of their devices and eliminating the need for replacement. This development is especially significant since Samsung announced that the S22 series would not receive any further major updates via its official channels after the latest version of One UI, opening the door for unofficial long-term software updates.
