ChatGPT tracks computer activity a new feature or privacy concern

OpenAI has introduced a new feature for the ChatGPT app on Mac systems called "Computer History." This feature allows the application to track keystrokes and mouse movements without taking screenshots, aimed at monitoring user activity and enhancing performance through suggested tips and task automation. The feature requires manual activation and is exclusively available to paid subscribers on Mac devices. It records activity events and converts them into a timeline that users can control, ensuring privacy by not capturing screenshots. Users can review and delete their data at any time. The feature was launched to address privacy concerns, as it only records keystrokes and clicks, and functions solely on apps outside of private browsing mode. Users also have the option to inquire with ChatGPT about their previously recorded activity.
