Microscopic robots inside your body

A research team from Julius Maximilian University in Würzburg, Germany, has successfully developed light-powered microscopic robots capable of hunting, collecting, and transporting bacteria with extremely high precision within liquid microbial environments. These robots are less than one micrometer in size, allowing them to operate and navigate within tiny spaces. They are guided using photon recoil physics and light-induced thermal forces, enabling them to capture entire groups of microorganisms without causing damage. Experiments demonstrated their ability to scan water samples, pick up bacteria, and relocate them to specific sites, showcasing significant control and maneuverability. These advancements open up broad future applications in medicine, microbiology, and cellular cleaning.
