German company Black Forest has launched the "Flax 3" AI model, which is capable of generating realistic videos that are difficult to distinguish from real footage. It can produce clips with resolutions up to 1080 pixels and durations of up to 20 seconds. Flax 3 is a foundational model that mimics real-world laws and integrates capabilities for generating images, text, and sound, although the current version is limited to video generation only. The model competes with Chinese counterparts like ByteDance's "Siden 2.5" and is distinguished by its lower price, with the cost of producing a video estimated at $0.17 compared to $0.23 for Siden. A version with open weights is expected to be released soon, allowing it to run directly on users' devices, making it more flexible than other models that require external subscriptions.
