Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Surpasses 5 GHz
Qualcomm has leaked details about its new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, which is expected to be officially unveiled between September 22 and 24, 2026, during the Snapdragon Summit. The processor primarily focuses on delivering very high performance, with expected maximum clock speeds exceeding 5 GHz, especially for the high-performance cores that may reach up to 5.01 GHz—one of the highest frequencies achieved by smartphone chips. The processor features a new configuration of eight cores arranged in a 2+3+3 design, along with an Adreno 850 GPU. It is manufactured using TSMC's 2-nanometer process, enhancing both performance and power efficiency. It is anticipated to be used in powerful phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, which might rely on this processor, while Samsung continues to develop a variant with the Exynos 2700 chip, offering improvements in efficiency and graphics, despite the lower clock speeds.
