Google introduces Guided Vision for visually impaired
Google has launched the "Guided Vision" feature within the Gemini Live service to assist the visually impaired and those with low vision in understanding their surroundings through instant audio descriptions of items captured by the phone's camera. The feature allows users to share their phone’s camera and request descriptions of objects, identify specific elements, read texts, and obtain product information. It also provides audio guidance to help direct the phone and smoothly move the camera. Currently, the feature is available on compatible Android devices through the accessibility settings, aiming to support people with visual disabilities in understanding their environment instantly. However, Google cautions not to rely on it for navigation or safe movement.
