Map of US bomber deployments post-Fairfax

The United States has withdrawn its B-1 B Lancer bombers from RAF Fairford in the UK, which is the only European base used by American forces for their heavy aircraft. This move comes after weeks of arrests of individuals suspected of terrorism in the area. American President Donald Trump stated that the withdrawal was due to "threats related to Iran," while Secretary of State Marco Rubio downplayed the significance of the connection between the aircraft transfers and any potential conspiracy, considering regular rotations to be standard practice. This step is part of an enhanced security and precautionary measure following multiple arrests. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to update and develop its fleet of heavy bombers, which are stationed at bases within the country and abroad, and plans to replace some older models with the new B-21s, which are scheduled to enter service in 2027.
