Bariq 2.0 Assesses Texts
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, in partnership with New York University Abu Dhabi and in collaboration with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and Zayed University, has launched the second phase of the “Bariq 2.0” project. The project assesses the readability of Arabic texts and automatically adapts them to suit readers’ proficiency levels. It can simplify vocabulary and sentence structures or raise a text’s level, and provides analysis explaining why the text was assigned its classification. This supports curriculum development and helps tailor content to its intended audiences. The new phase builds on the development and classification of more than 69,000 sentences during the first phase, launched in 2023 to create a balanced Arabic corpus of 10 million words.
