A statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources revealed that the income of the Agricultural Damage Compensation Fund is less than the expenses allocated for compensation. It pointed out the limited participation of farmers in the fund, which relies on various sources of funding, including annual allocations from the state amounting to 30 million dinars, contributions from farmers, and a 20% contribution from the Competitiveness Development Fund. The deputies also called for mandatory participation and for improving transparency of resources and procedures, with an emphasis on streamlining the process of disbursing compensation. Additionally, issues related to fishing stock monitoring and the decline in fish stocks due to illegal fishing and climate change were discussed, along with efforts to work on a draft law to tighten penalties in the sector.
