Tunisia achieved a significant advance in the Global Innovation Index for 2026, ranking 71st worldwide among 139 economies, with an increase of five positions compared to 2025 and ten compared to 2024. Tunisia is the second in North Africa and the fourth across Africa, excelling in the percentage of science and engineering graduates and ranking globally in areas such as human capital and research, which is positioned at 45th place. However, the Tunisian labor market faces challenges in the business environment, ranking 124th globally, and 112th in private sector participation in research and development. This highlights the need to strengthen connections between talent and research and technological expertise to boost technological exports and foster greater commercial innovation.
