Shams Program Supports SME Solar Financing
The Director General of the National Agency for Energy Control announced the launch of the "Shams" program, which aims to enable small and medium-sized enterprises to invest in solar photovoltaic electricity production, with support from the African Development Bank. The program provides eased financing mechanisms to enhance their competitiveness and reduce energy costs. This initiative is part of Tunisia's broader efforts to achieve a comprehensive energy transition, as solar energy projects in the country have shown significant progress, with 309 applications accepted and an investment capacity of approximately 455 MW planned by September 2026. The program seeks to accelerate procedures and develop grid infrastructure to address challenges related to energy storage, electric mobility, and smart grids.
