Fans throw tennis balls during Ireland vs Austria match in protest
The football match between Ireland and Austria was temporarily halted after fans threw hundreds of tennis balls onto Aviva Stadium in Dublin, as a protest against Ireland's upcoming game against Israel. Some of the balls carried stickers featuring the Palestinian flag and the hashtag "Stop the Game," as part of a protest campaign against the scheduled match with Israel on Sunday. Security forces removed the balls and ejected a fan holding a Palestinian flag from the stadium. The controversy continues in Ireland regarding participation in the match, amidst rising protests accusing Israel of war crimes in Gaza, with calls to boycott playing against them.
