A pilot project has been launched in the Ben Arous Governorate aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions resulting from household waste. This is achieved through the use of Fukuoka technology, which promotes the decomposition of organic waste and reduces methane production, as the impact of one ton of methane is equivalent to approximately 28 tons of carbon dioxide. This project contributes to supporting national objectives to combat climate change by improving waste treatment methods and decreasing emissions. Additionally, efforts are focused on enhancing the treated water drainage network and monitoring pollution sources, with the goal of protecting water resources and reducing pollution in the region.
