Tunisia: Ziad Elhami Trial Rescheduled
The Tunis Court of First Instance has decided to postpone the examination of the case involving the transfer of a municipal property belonging to the Carthage Municipality, filed against journalist Ziad El Hani and former Minister of Cultural Affairs, Ezzedine Bashaouch, to the next session scheduled for November 3rd. The case accuses the defendants of committing financial and administrative violations related to the illegal sale of the property. Currently, Ziad El Hani is serving a prison sentence of one year on charges of defamation via social media, and he is expected to appear before the Terrorism Division on October 26th regarding audio leak cases. Human rights organizations and media circles consider these prosecutions an attempt to undermine freedom of expression and are calling for his release.
