Tunisia to host 2026 Arab Disaster Forum
The second Arab Regional Forum for Early Warning and Disaster Preparedness, hosted by Tunisia on October 15-16, 2026, aims to evaluate the progress of Arab countries in early warning systems and identify gaps to strengthen the capacity to respond to increasing climate and natural disasters such as droughts, floods, dust storms, and rising sea levels. The event seeks to promote cooperation, exchange experiences, and develop practical measures to accelerate the implementation of multi-hazard early warning systems, in collaboration with international organizations like the United Nations and the World Meteorological Organization. It also emphasizes ensuring timely alerts reach the most vulnerable regions and populations, with the goal of protecting lives and property while reducing economic and social losses. The forum is expected to produce recommendations on developing sustainable, multi-hazard systems within the Arab region.
