Yemen government targets Bab al-Mandab
The Yemeni government forces launched a military operation to retake the Bab al-Mandab area in the southwest of the country amid fierce clashes with the Houthi movement, which had previously taken control of the coast and the vital Bab al-Mandab Strait. The forces made battlefield progress and captured several Houthi fighters, following the announcement by the President of the Yemeni Presidential Council of the start of the operation. Meanwhile, the Houthis continue to besiege the city of Taiz and threaten freedom of navigation through the strategic corridor.
