Breast cancer cases rise nationwide
Reports confirm an increase in the number of breast cancer cases nationwide, with the number of women diagnosed rising from approximately 2,000 to around 4,500 annually. This rise is attributed to the doubling of early detection efforts and continuous screening, especially through the national program that conducts awareness campaigns and screenings throughout the year, with a focus on early detection and raising awareness about the importance of self-examination. In Zaghouan Province, 19 confirmed cases were recorded in 2025. The program currently includes awareness campaigns and coordinated events involving midwives and doctors, aiming to reduce mortality and improve treatment outcomes through early detection.
